KEN ANDREWS

CLASS OF '72

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2008

Andrews had a reputation for combining great skills with tenacious toughness – “the type of person you had to play your hardest against, or he would own you”. Andrews played for three of coach Mario “Goose” Laurenti’s state championship teams from 1969-1972. He made All-County each year and was All-American and All-Area as a junior and senior. Also as a senior, Andrews was Mercer County Player of the Year and won the Knights of Columbus Award for Soccer.

Andrews, a center-midfielder, who never played on a team that didn’t win a state championship was the only soccer superstar to be honored as a two-time All-American. Andrews never said much, probably because he didn’t have to -- “He was a quiet player whose leadership was demonstrated by his work ethic and abilities on the field”.
