JESSICA BABICE

CLASS OF '07

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2018

She's had some great years but 2018 will have to go down as one of her all-time favorites!

In addition to being inducted into the Steinert High School Athletic Hall of Fame April 14, Jessica Babice is also entering the Rowan University Athletic Hall of Fame during October Homecoming Weekend ceremonies in Glassboro.

In between the two Halls of Fame inductions is an even bigger milestone as Jessica and her fiancé Brandon Cuba will be married July 28 in Andover, N.J.

Jessica's days are full, but that is no surprise to anyone from Steinert.

She was an excellent soccer player and a member of the National Honor Society and the Gifted and Talented Program at SHS.

Babice was a three-time regional All-American, Top 20 all-state and all-area selection. A two-time conference Player of the Year, she was the leading goal- scorer in the state of New Jersey in 2006. She scored at least one goal in 20 of the Spartans' 23 games, totaling 40 for her senior year, while tallying two or more goals in a match 10 times. She has often been described as an extremely fast player and powerful runner which makes sense because she captained the SHS track team for two years and earned a bronze medal in 2003 in the Penn Relays.

After a successful freshman year at the University of Rhode Island (she was named 2007 Atlantic-10 Rookie of the Year and ranked fourth on her team in scoring), Jessica transferred to Rowan.

"Jess will have an immediate impact on the offense," Rowan coach Scott Leacott understated. "She is a big, strong and very fast player."

Babice finished as the all-time leading scorer at Rowan with 57 goals and was also the program leader with 138 points (she ranked third in assists with 24). Her name is peppered throughout the Profs' record books. In 2010, Jess was the first women's soccer player at Rowan to earn All-America and Academic All-America honors in the same season.

After her senior season, she was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Female Athlete of the Year. A team captain, Babice led the Profs in points (54), goals (21) and assists (12). Babice tied Rowan's single game record for goals in a game (four) and broke the mark for points in a game (nine). She was chosen the NJAC Offensive Player of the Year and to the all-conference first team for the third consecutive time. She received many awards for her academic prowess.

A Rowan Scholar-Athlete, she majored in health and exercise science. She is a teacher of Wellness at Timberlane Middle School in the Hopewell Valley Regional School District. She is also a JV soccer coach as well as the TMS cheer coach and spring track coach.
