Although Cuniglio actually played five sports during high school, he made his name in football,
wrestling and track.. During his senior year, he was captain of the football and wrestling teams.
He was a first-team All-Colonial Valley Conference and All-Mercer County selection in wrestling and
track and second team All-CVC in football. It was in wrestling where he truly dominated, finishing
fifth in the state to become the only state place-winner in school history. He was named to the
The Trenton Times All-Decade team, was a Mercer County Tournament Champion, a District 25 champ
and a two-time qualifier in Region 7. Dominic won the Walt Wilkinson Award (outstanding football
player), the Spartan of the Year award and the football and wrestling MVPs.
As a member of Monmouth University’s first football team, Cuniglio became a four-year
starter at offensive tackle where he was first-team All-ECAC in 1995, first-team All Northeast
Conference in 1996, and a two-time All-American in 1995 and 1996. He was a member of Monmouth’s
Northeast Conference champion in 1997. He is currently a teacher and assistant football coach
at Middletown South High School.
