CHUCK GIAMBELLUCA

CLASS OF '61

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2006

Chuck was a three-sport standout and a pioneer of the athletic program at the Steinert High School of the late 1950s-early 1960s. Giambelluca's leadership skills were evident as he served as captain of the Spartans' football, basketball and baseball teams. He excelled in basketball, earning all-star recognition, but it was on the baseball diamond that Giambelluca shone the brightest.

"I enjoyed baseball and basketball probably the most,'' said Giambelluca whose baseball career continued into the pro ball with a stint with the Milwaukee Braves farm system in Waycross, Ga. He continued to make his mark on baseball as he managed the successful Broad Street Park team in the Mercer County American Legion League. His record over a 35-plus year career at the helm was 711-338 and included five league championships, and a state championship in 1975.
