JOE LOGUE, SR.

SPECIAL CONTRIBUTOR

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2009

Logue began in 1950 and was on the scene when Steinert opened in 1958. His fair, respectful words made Spartan athletes bigger than life and his writings filled Green and White scrapbooks from the Eisenhower to Clinton administrations. Always the gentleman, he made it easy for all whom he interviewed. For a staggering 52 years, Logue covered Mercer County athletics for The Trentonian. For that, he is already in the Ewing High School and Mercer County Soccer Halls of Fame. During that time, he founded and served as president of the renowned Golden Wave Club, and was president of the Trenton Select Committee and New Jersey Sports Writers Association. He coached West End baseball and the legendary Trenton Penn PAL basketball teams, and served as statistician for Mercer County American Legion baseball.

"He always was able to turn something negative into a positive and never embarrassed a kid," Rich Giallella said. "He became not just a media person but a great friend to all coaches. He was a fair, understanding person."
