JIM MCKEOWN CLASS OF '74 YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2009 The 1973 Steinert soccer team went undefeated en route to the Group IV championship because it scored lots of goals and gave up very few. Jim McKeown played a major part in both facets. McKeown was a three-year varsity performer, playing on the 1971 and ’73 Group IV champions. As a senior he had 10 goals and 10 assists, earned first-team All-County and All-Area, third-team All-Group IV and was the Hamilton PAL’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year. That summer he was starting fullback for the U-19 National team, then went on to a stellar career at Rider College. A four-year starter at sweeper, Sem was named College Athlete of the Year, first-team All-East Coast Conference and Regional All American as a senior. McKeown became the 13th player selected in the North American Soccer League’s 1978 draft, and played one year for the Tulsa Roughnecks and one for the Philadelphia Fury.
