MICHEAL RUPPERT

CLASS OF '03

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2013

Mike Ruppert, who was the first ice hockey player to total 100 points and 100 goals at Steinert, set the bar for Spartan ice hockey players.

Steinert won 136 games from 2000-2010, winning four CVC Championships, an MCT Championship and recorded nine straight years of 10 or more wins.

Ruppert's career statistics include 104 goals and 72 assists for 176 points.

He was All-CVC First Team his junior and senior years and he was Offensive Player of the Year both of those years as well. As a senior, he was team captain, he was All-South Jersey, and he played in the State All-Star Game.

In setting the benchmark for the Spartans he helped lead Steinert to its first State playoff win in school history as well as its first CVC Championship.

Post-high school, Ruppert led the Mercer Chiefs to district and Atlantic League championships and a seventh-place finish at the USA Hockey National Tier 1 in 2003.

At the National Sports Academy from 2003-2004, he helped his team win its first Midwest Prep Hockey League title.

Ruppert continued his ground-breaking ways by becoming the first Steinert alumnus to play in the Canadian Junior Hockey League's Tier 1-A.

He also played a year in the Eastern Junior Hockey League.
