KRISTIN H. VOORHEES

CLASS OF '98

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2010

Kristin Voorhees is not a stranger when it comes to success on the soccer pitch, the hardwoods and the track and field circuit having achieved star status in each. A three-sport standout at Steinert, Kristin was named Spartan of the Year in 1998. For participating in three varsity sports for four years, she received a Spartan 12 Award. Perhaps best known as a basketball player, she led the Spartans to conference and county championships as Steinert ruled that roost circa 1994-96.

She excelled as a goalie, including minding the nets for the Central Jersey girls’ soccer championship squad in 1996. She became a county champion and school-record holder as a shot putter for the Spartans’ outdoor track and field team.

But the sport she focused on at the next level was basketball. A 5-foot-10-inch power forward, Voorhees went to West Chester propelled by a basketball scholarship. She earned four varsity letters in basketball and served as team captain her senior year.

The accolades, which started pouring in when she was a youngster, continued in college as she received the ECAC Merit Award, WCU Leader Award and recognition from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for her abilities as a student and an athlete.

Through the years, she has coached girls’ and women’s basketball, field hockey and volleyball, including stints at Slippery Rock University, Stuart Country Day School and in the West Windsor-Plainsboro school district. She is a teacher/coach, a fitness trainer, a basketball official and camp clinician.
